Reading Status for 27 February 2014

Before the Reading Grid graces your eyeballs, I would like to thank everyone who has voted in my poll thus far.  After two stories broke out to an early lead, another has stepped up and doubled the votes of the initial leaders.  At 12am Saturday morning (my time), the poll results at that time will be taken as the final result.  Within 24 hours, the winning story will have its first scene posted!  If you haven’t already lodged your vote, please do so!

The benefit of not being gainfully employed is having the extra time to dedicate to writing, be it through reading more, researching more and chugging out the words.  Those who dedicate the time to writing as well as having full time jobs, family commitments, local sports team commitments or even sacrificing a nights at the pub, deserve a hearty round of applause.

Luckily, I checked out a volunteers site for my home state.  Nestled amongst the extensive list of jobs was a pair of positions at a nearby university’s writer’s centre.  Not thinking myself up to the role of Director, I put in an application for a vacant Marketing Officer role.  Had the interview today, and now just have to hope that an affirmative answer is received on Tuesday.  Of course, there is every chance Murphy’s Law could intervene and I finally get a paying job.  May have to learn the ability every male dreads:  Multi-tasking =)

So many series! People should be restricted to just writing stand-alones. Oh… but then there would be no Green Mars and no Discworld series. :\
Congrats on the interview, fingers crossed you got the marketing job!

    1. Haha so many tomes would mean that we could build book houses… hmmm *stroking chin*

Cheers; hoping I get it and that Murphy’s Law behaves =P

While the book house sounds good in theory, it’s a logistical nightmare. Can you imagine the lengths you’d be forced to to keep the books dry in a rain storm? A clear coating of contact might do that, but what about the sun? Those covers photodegenerate! And don’t even get me started on the pages you’d dogear on a book floor.
